Advanced Mediation Training
MED-004. A Benefit Resolution Mindset
Objectives: It is fear of loss that catapults people into conflict. It is
fear that can keep them from resolving it. If the fear of loss outweighs
the benefit of an offer, then it will be impossible for the party to
choose resolution. To embrace a settlement option a person must believe it
will improve his/her condition. The benefit of gain, being better off,
must outweigh the fear of loss, being worse off. As a conflict management
tool this skill can be an effective perspective for looking at and dealing
with conflict.
