MGT-001. Change Management
Objectives: A few of us embrace change with
all its attendant uncertainties. More of
us shy away from it, primarily because we feel ill equipped to manage
ourselves
through its processes. Participants will have the unique opportunity to explore
change in a humorous and engaging way. As a result, participants will
begin to craft
a plan that allows them to view change not as a threat, but as an
opportunity for
self-discovery and growth.
MGT-002. Communication
Objectives: What are you really saying? Examine body language, personal
space and how to talk "to" and not "at" people. Improve interpersonal
communication skills to achieve more effective results and more satisfying
relationships. Practice listening skills to improve communication.
Identify and practice a four-step model of communication to improve
effectiveness and get needs met.
MGT-003. Communications Plus
Objective: Establish a common language that everyone can understand;
identify communications traps; develop a shared vision; understand the
effect of doing Exactly as you’re told; understand Communication Styles;
decode the Language of Conflict; Identify Gender Differences in
Communications.
MGT-004. Conflict Management for Managers
Objectives: Examine the following topics: Sources and Dynamics of
Conflict, Communication and Negotiation Skills in Conflict Management,
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) including Arbitration, Mediation and
Ombudsmen.
MGT- 05. Creating a Highly Reliable Organization
Objectives: The application of the Highly Reliable Organizations (HRO)
model increases performance in an ever-increasing complex environment,
including complex communication structures, enhancing an organization’s
ability to discover and correct errors before they escalate into a crisis.
Basic HRO principles allow organizations to contain crisis situations,
managing crises into resolutions. It develops processes to work in a
fluid, organized manner, focusing energy and expertise where and when it
is needed.
MGT-006. Dealing with Difficult People
Objectives: Learn techniques for dealing with all types of people, from
the Know-it-all, Intimidators, Non-committers, Yes-men to the constant
Complainer. Help lessen 6 their impact on morale and productivity while
gaining insight into what motivates and deals with each "style."
MGT-007. Diversified Communication
Objectives: Understand the elements of diversification. Learn how
stereotyping, prejudice, discrimination, and cultural differences effects
communication. Improve your ability to communicate as well as listen to
those subordinate and senior to you.
MGT-008. Effective Conflict Management
Objectives: "He's gone...he couldn't get along with anybody in the
office." "She's a good supervisor, but she doesn't know how to handle it
when we have a problem in the office." As professionals seek ways to
create new clients, to serve better their existing clients, and to work
more productively with others, they can find a significant return on their
investment in positive conflict management.
MGT-009. Employee Discipline
Objectives: Examine the Steps, Stages, Policies, Legal Implications,
Required Documentation and Purpose of the Progressive Disciplinary
Process.
MGT-010. Employment Law
Objectives: The following topics are covered: General Legal Guidelines and
Considerations, Worker and Employer Rights, Interviewing, Background
Checks, Hiring, Negligence, ADA, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act,
Protected Classes, Workplace Privacy, FLSA, FMLA and Sexual Harassment
Prevention, and Termination
MGT-011. Executive Management Seminar
Objectives: Executive Management, as a seminar, is designed to integrate
knowledge from a combination of management courses. The focus is on
building a context for leadership, teambuilding, critical analysis and
decision making as the threads for organizational and individual success
in the 21st Century. The approach is broad based with the objective of
integrating models and tools that converge to create "Learning
Organizations" and "Systems Thinking". The learning experience will tend
to be experiential in design through instructor led discussions and
projects focused on the exploration of issues surrounding the expansion of
the knowledge based work environment. The class will also explore the
continued integration of technology in the workplace, and changing
societal expectations from a new generation of workers. Additional
emphasis will be placed on the concept of self management. The works of
Senge and Drucker will be used as the basis for exercises designed to help
participants in the process of self-discovery and self-development.
MGT-012. First Step – Employee Awareness Training
Objectives: Understanding the Importance of Communications, Identifying
Personal Communication Styles, Development of an Effective Conflict
Resolution Plan, Establishing Team Connections, Identifying Organizational
Support Agencies, Understanding the Impact of Human Relations in the
Workplace; Building Core Knowledge of Organizational Policies and
Procedures.
MGT-013. Hiring and Firing Within the Law
Objectives: Successful business leaders
know the importance of the federal, state, and local laws that govern
employment issues. Participants will explore the laws that impact a
leader's actions in the placement and termination of employees in an
organization. Role-play activities will give participants the opportunity
to find the right employee for the job, to fire the wrong employee for the
job, and stay within the law at the same time.
MGT-014. Leader, Manager or Both
Objectives: The Manager of yesterday's organizations spent time on
planning, organizing, directing, and controlling. The manager of today and
tomorrow does not control; he or she leads through influence. Participants
will learn the differences between a manager's tasks and a leader's
activities. They also will learn the tools and the techniques of effective
management and leadership.
MGT-015. Management and Applied Leadership
Objectives: Participants will be able to identify the basic functions of
management and the complexities of their role in a global economy. The
different types of organizational structures and their impact on
organizational performance will be identified. Identify the different
approaches to, and applications of, management and leadership theory and
practice. Discuss how to achieve cooperative and effective work-group
members through effective business communications. Understand the change
process and the impact of change on organizations.
MGT-016. Managing Performance Problems
Objectives: Problem Analysis, Communication and Negotiation Skills,
Documentation, Counseling, Coaching and Disciplining. Examine the impact.
MGT-017. Mediation for Managers
Objectives: Understand the benefits of resolving conflict as a neutral
party. Examine the characteristics, ethics and limitations of a neutral
mediator. Identify how managers use mediation skills to improve working
relationships and to increase morale, employee retention and productivity.
Observe a role-play that demonstrates how mediation might facilitate
solutions for workplace conflict. (If mediation training is required,
managers will practice specific mediation skills in role-play scenarios.)
Plan how mediation can be used in your organization.
MGT-018. Organizational Behavior
Objectives: Participants will compare and contrast individual and
organizational behaviors. Review motivational behaviors and explain their
role in an organization’s performance. Identify and explain the four
principles of total quality management (TQM) and how it relates to
business. Evaluate both internal and external factors that impact the
performance of managers. Assess some of the major social and ethical
problems facing business today. Discuss the organizational socialization
process and teamwork in the workplace, along with strategies for
effectively managing conflict, adaptation, and change within the
organization. Identify the impact of stress in managing people.
MGT-019. Personnel Counseling
Objectives: Topics covered: Establish Expectations, “Tough Love” –
Providing Negative Feedback, Developing Effective Evaluation Standards,
Determining Roles and Responsibilities, Understanding Employee Mentoring,
Preparing for Hostility, Withdrawal and Sabotage, Digging Down to the Root
of the Problem.
MGT-020. Performance Management
Objectives: Participants will examine their role in the development of
high performance organizations. Through practical examples and exercises,
participants will examine different approaches, will practice various
coaching techniques, and will garner skills to manage performance
problems.
MGT-021. Problem Solving and Decision Making
Objectives: Many problems can be solved and decisions can be made in
transactions by consulting other professionals or referring to the laws
that regulate the industry. However, on a daily basis, those professionals
who work with the public know the challenge of solving problems and making
decisions without specific guidelines and readily available experts.
MGT-022. Territory, Quota, and Compensation Planning
Objectives: This module is primarily for managers who are required to
establish policies and procedures regarding these programs. Participants
will be able to identify the various strengths and weaknesses for
different territory, quota, and compensation programs. Learn how to align
these various business components with business objectives. Discuss the
inter-relationships between each business plan. Communicate the strategy
behind each example to the people they will affect.
MGT-023. The Performance Appraisal
Objectives: The Steps, Stages, Policies, Legal Implications, Documentation
and Purpose of the Performance Management Process.
