MEDIATOR TRAINING COURSES

General Mediation (Basic)
Objectives: Understand the dynamics of third party neutral conflict resolution. Examine the characteristics, ethics and limitations of a neutral mediator. Learn the steps of the mediation process. Practice mediation skills in role-play scenarios. Identify mediator competencies.

Advanced Mediation
Advanced mediation training moves beyond the basic skill set training, applying the basic skills to situations a mediator may find him or herself in at the table. This training will address topic like how to deal with difficult people, disruptions, how to handle difficult negotiations, question asking skills, mediating with representatives at the table, and co-mediating.

Co-Mediation
Objectives: Preparing to co-mediate. Personality styles and the benefits of each style are discussed. The chemistry and challenges of different style combinations are discussed. Examine the roles of each of the co-mediator in each step of the mediation process.

Workplace Conflict Resolution
Objective: Topics discussed will - Identify the Real Problem, Establish Ownership, Understand the Process, Find the Middle Ground, Establish Roles, Apply the Concepts of Conflict Resolution, Application of Conflict Resolution Skills.

Introduction to ADR
Objective: Examine what ADR Is and what it Is Not. Review the primary processes and the hybrid processes. Decide whether ADR is the appropriate remedy. Choose an ADR Method. Design your own hybrid process.

Planning an ADR Program - Designing a Successful System
Objective: Learn what processes should be followed to develop a successful Workplace Alternative Dispute Resolution system. Gain insight into positive program management.

Quality and Mediation In Your Current ADR Program
Objective: Attendees will examine the tools for evaluating the effectiveness of their current ADR program. Study examples of corrective measures that can be taken to strengthen a weak program.

Conflict Resolution/Negotiation Skills
Objectives: Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Skills introduces techniques to participants for use in their business and personal situations. In addition to developing and enhancing negotiating proficiency, the course emphasizes the process and methods of conflict resolution. Topics include preparation for a negotiation, establishing strategy, recognizing tactics used in distributive (win/lose), integrative bargaining (win/win), resolutions of impasse, the role of power and personality, and effective communication processes. Also included is the role of arbitration and mediation in conflict resolution. Participants are given the opportunity to utilize developed skills in classroom situations. 

Diversity at the Mediation Table
Objectives: Examines the impact cultural, gender, and generational differences have on the people within a group, and how to deal effectively with these differences in the mediation setting.
